My life, my dream...
Jane Wilmer  'The Confidence Coach'

Hello, I am Jane Wilmer the founder of Potentialife Coaching and I live in Surrey, with my husband and two children. This is my story..

I left school at sixteen and fulfilled my wish of becoming a Dental Nurse, which I enjoyed for nine years. I became a Mum at nineteen, was divorced at twenty-five and subsequently became a virtual recluse due to developing Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. A dibilitating disorder that took over my life and caused me to live life under its shadow. Where fear was my strongest emotion and perfection my ultimate goal.

I have fortunately spent the last eight years finding my way back to a happy, healthy life. Along the way, I have discovered I was capable of much more than I could ever imagine.

By eventually receiving the right treatment for my OCD and having a fantastic support network in my family and friends I was ready and willing to take the next small steps into a new way of life.
Facing my fears, I rediscovered my more approachable side and became an Avon Lady which I loved.
I enjoyed it so much I achieved a place in the Presidents Club in my very first year. I realised I enjoyed sales and then almost naturally progressed into Customer Services for a well-known finance company.

What started out as a need for extra money for the family, soon became a way of regaining my self-confidence. Being amongst open-minded people and having to constantly learn new skills and face new challenges, I flourished and grew stronger and happier everyday. All areas of my life improved. I could join in with so much more and have much more fun, as my OCD became less and less of a factor in my daily routines. My health improved, I took up karate and decided to focus on a new career.

Having come such a long way personally, I was determined to use my interest in psychology and personal growth and really wanted to give something back. I wanted to find the right career for me. It had to be fulfilling, enable me to pass on just how great I felt about life and give me the opportunity to really transform my life. I decided Life Coaching was the obvious choice.

Being no stranger to juggling, I looked after my family, worked full time, studied hard and gained a full diploma with The UK College of Life Coaching, now known as Coaching and Mentoring International.

Having set up Potentialife Coaching in June 2004, I am now living my dream of being a fully qualified Life Coach, and love encouraging clients to live their own dream, whatever that may be.

I am absolutely passionate about coaching and love the way it really changes peoples lives, in such a positive way. My favourite part of being a coach is when my clients believe in themselves enough to really push their boundaries and actually achieve that previously elusive goal. Those moments are so powerful and guaranteed to make my day.

My Coaching Philosophy.

I naturally have the ability to see the best in people and get that out of them. Through my skills as a qualified Life Coach I have the opportunity to really draw on that and help them change their lives in a very significant way.

I am extremely proud to be a non-directive coach. This enables the client to really use coaching to their full advantage and have the feeling that they are in control of the situation. I am very aware about the responsibility I have as a CMI Life Coach that people know there is a difference between directive and non directive coaching and I am passionate about educating them as such.

I coach mainly on confidence, health and well-being, career change and relationships. I also work with groups helping people gain more from themselves and have the confidence to shine and work together with others.

I like to help them get to the heart of what?s really going on.

I find that I manage to be able to get clients to ?open up? quite early on in our relationship and so therefore they seem to make progress quickly. I provide a confidential and focused environment for them to really think things through no holds barred.

I have always been very open and honest in my approach and I feel it pays off.

The supportive and non judgemental environment I create means I can challenge them when they are being too harsh with themselves or indeed giving up too easily.

I believe whole heartedly in the hidden potential we all, as human being have, and see it as my mission to help other people find theirs. I have been fortunate in my own life to have pushed myself beyond huge difficulties, not least OCD and not just come out the other side, but with the help and influence of coaching, surpassed what I could ever have imagined.

As a coach I also feel it is my responsibility to stay as open minded as possible to keep pushing my own comfort zone and maintain a thirst for learning with every new experience. It isn?t just my responsibility, it is my pleasure.

I have learnt so much in recent years. I have learnt from my clients, from the people I work with, from the situations I have put myself in, and indeed from the people I love.

I have coached fantastic people, who had no idea they were, into fulfilled and determined people, who know where they are going and how to get there.

They now have the ability to roll with the punches and get up dust themselves off and have another go. They know they have all they need inside themselves to achieve their goals whatever they may be.

I have had the opportunity to work with some truly amazing people, who have opened up a whole new world of ideas, contacts and energy. Whose belief in coaching matches my own and whose support has enabled me find my place within the business community.

I have tried many new things and conquered many unfamiliar situations. I have pushed myself to do things that make my heart thump and also learned how to accept I can?t be all things, to all people, all of the time.

As for the people I love, coaching has benefited all of our lives for the better in so many ways. Nothing is impossible and I am happy to be a shining example of that.
